New Lynn Slip Repair
Sector: Retaining RC Piles and Capping Beam
Location: New Lynn
This project began with a silt fence installation, then we needed to wait on approvals and waivers from council before we could begin piling. Coordinating timing with the client was critical; as the site is a carpark, with our client receiving a delivery of hundreds of new cars just before we were ready to start piling.
Throughout piling stages we encountered a few challenges, including ground conditions and ground contamination with old metal car parts and concrete blocks. We used permanent casings down the first half of the pile depth to prevent ground collapse and cored through the other ground obstructions.
Piling works were completed very efficiently in 7 days; 600mm diameter piles, 10 metres deep, permanently cased up to 5.5 metres.
While installing timber wailers we encountered an active stormwater pipe needing to be redirected. After successfully completing our piling, drainage, wailer works, survey certification, Council sign offs and rip-rap formation we commenced capping beam works. The balustrade was then constructed. The final wailer sections were then installed, backfilled, and compacted.
Our Client was extremely happy with the end result.
