Hospital Hill Taumarunui

Spiral Drillers were contracted to install 169 x Galvanised UC Beams into Bored Concrete Piles for a retaining structure in Taumarunui. Upon completion of the piling works, the UC sections then had lagging panels placed to complete the structure.

Spiral Drillers utilised our in house engineering capabilities, to splice UC sections where required in our yard to avoid on site delays. An innovative approach utilising Deadman and clamps, removed the need for the UC sections to be welded to a support frame and compromise the galvanising. This approach allowed for a high level of accuracy and verticality for the UC sections given the following on works.

Bored Piles were installed into competent siltstone where the level was higher than expected. This resulted in an increase of drilling into competent material, but no programme implications occurred. Spiral Drillers were happy to deliver a complex project on a restricted access site.
